About

Steep & Origin helps readers choose Chinese tea and teaware, understand product differences, and find a practical brewing routine. Our current coverage focuses on TeaVivre’s catalog, from loose-leaf teas to flower infusions and small brewing vessels.

What you’ll find here

Our reviews explain who a product may suit and which limitations matter before buying. Comparisons examine exact products, while buying guides and brewing articles answer specific questions about preparation, serving and care. A recommendation is conditional on your preferences—not a promise that one tea or vessel will suit everyone.

How we build an assessment

  • Merchant documentation: we use the exact listing for ingredients, origin, dimensions and preparation instructions, and identify gaps or contradictory specifications.
  • Customer evidence: we read original feedback, retain meaningful disagreement and distinguish isolated experiences from recurring themes. Feedback about an older harvest or variant does not prove the quality of a current batch.
  • Editorial interpretation: we connect the evidence to a buying decision. Where evidence is insufficient, we leave the question open.

Merchant customer ratings are separate from our editorial assessments. Editorial scores describe the stated use and evidence behind the judgment; they are not laboratory measurements or personal tasting scores. An unrated characteristic means that the available evidence does not justify a score.

Testing, recipes and illustrations

The current articles are research-based. We do not present third-party experiences as our own tasting or hands-on testing. Merchant recipes, editorial starting points and untested adaptations are identified separately so you can understand where an instruction comes from.

AI tools assist with research organization, drafting and illustrations. They do not establish product facts or replace original evidence. Illustrations may be AI-generated and may differ from the exact product. They are not customer photographs or evidence of hands-on testing.

Our relationship with merchants

Steep & Origin is a separate editorial project, not TeaVivre’s shop or customer-service team. Our current merchant focus is a limit of our coverage, not a claim that we have compared every tea seller. Read our affiliate disclosure for the current status of commercial links.

Keeping information current

Specifications, ingredients and offers can change. Check the current merchant listing for the exact harvest, variant and pack before buying. We revise articles when supported corrections come to light and keep uncertainty visible rather than filling gaps with invented experience.

About Steep & Origin

Chinese tea, thoughtfully explored.

We distinguish merchant tea details, customer experiences and editorial interpretation. We do not claim personal testing unless it has actually been performed.
